Hi @xiaoys0725

As mentioned by @Madelyn_SAS, the SAS Financial Management 5.1 User's Guide Second Edition for instance has the following information:

the default read member and the default write member for each hierarchy

A hierarchy's default read member is used to complete any query that does not include an explicit specification for that hierarchy. A hierarchy's default write member is used to complete any data record that is created through a data-entry form or generated by an adjustment rule that does not include an explicit specification for that hierarchy. You can specify some of these default members in the New Model wizard, as you select the hierarchies. You can also specify them on the Dimensions page of the model's Properties window, after you create the model. Some of these defaults are set by the software and cannot be changed.

Hope that helps.

Cheers,

The meaning of "default read member"?(Financial Management Studio)

Hello,

I am getting familar with Financial Management Studio, and I found when I used excel add-in for FM studio, and chose "table properties", there was a "default read member" in the dimension tab. However after I chose a different default read memeber nothing happens.

Anybody knows what does it mean by the "default read member" here?

Thanks!

I would suggest posting this question in the Business Intelligence > Integration with Microsoft Office community.

Following is some information about default read member:

"A hierarchy's default read member is used to complete any query that does not include an explicit specification for that hierarchy."

The Financial Management User's Guide should also have more information.

http://support.sas.com/documentation/onlinedoc/fm/index.html
