Removal of pdf files from distribution

Hi.

We would like to remove the pdf from SAS VA distribution

As of now the distribution consist of both link to report and pdf. In the future we would like only the link.

Can anybody help?

Hi Filip, @Drffvj,

when you distribute the email, you have the option to select if you want to include the pdf, or not. it is optional. Or you mean to force the users to not be able to select this option when distributing reports?

What version of SAS VA do you have?

We have 7.3 Hotfix 5.

Where in the distribution proces is this option available?

During the report job step or distribution step, and where?

If you use the report distribution, indeed it attaches a PDF: http://support.sas.com/documentation/cdl/en/vaag/69958/HTML/default/viewer.htm#n0vaq18oiawvo1n1i4s8onas6qr3.htm

But if the size of the attachment is oversized from a certain limit, the attachment is removed from the email, and the email would be still sent.

You can use the configuration properties va.distribution.email.aggregate.attachments.mb and va.distribution.email.attachment.mb to set explicit size limits. See How to Set Configuration Properties.

How Oversize Email Attachments Are Handled

For a report distribution email with attachments that exceed a known size limit, the following results occur:

If there are multiple attachments, report distribution attempts to distribute the attachments among multiple messages. The user who requests the report distribution is notified that multiple emails have been sent.

Any individual attachment that exceeds the size limit is removed from the email. The email indicates that an attachment was omitted due to a size limit.

If a report distribution email is rejected by an email system due to a (previously unknown) size limit, report distribution’s knowledge of email system’s size limits is updated to reflect the rejection.

Note: If size limits are explicitly set (in configuration properties), the new limits that are in effect are lower than the configured limits.

If you use the modern view, if you Email:I believe it will just use your Outlook (or mail client) and send just the report URL, never the pdf.

If you use the classic view, if you Email you will see this, and as you can appreciate, there is an option to attach report PDF (or not):

The minimum value that can be set for the attachment size is 1 megabyte. So, this will stop only those reports with a PDF that exceeds 1 megabyte.
