Beyond the out-of-the box functionalities of VA

Dear experts,

I consider myself quite experienced with VA reports using all kind of stuff that it has to offer.

BUT with the latest request I'm quite speechless.

They ask us to build-in user-specific controls. Depending on the user's role he can access certain level of information. This could translate into the depth (or height) of an hierarchy item he/she navigates.

I don't even know where to start, but my first idea would be:

If I had 3 user groups I would load 3 specific tables in VA, each one having its user-group specific information.

And they want me to include a tree-like navigation display in the report.

Depending on the route the user takes to delve into the information he should see a graphical representation where he/she is right now.

When I link objetcs in VA by the action functionality I can see the filters that have led to this visualisation of the target object. I would need these filters be represented graphically.

Probably my post is a little bit confusing, so am I 🙂

Any idea will be highly welcome.

Hi @acordes , is this something that could be achieved with Row-level security? You could have one table with three types of grant on it based on user group. This video is a bit old but gives a useful overview of applying RLS in Visual Analytics: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s7Ogy75InVE
