Converting a date field to mesure and then creating a first (min) and last (max) date of observation

Hi! I am using SAS 7.4 at the moment, we will migrate soon, but I have a date field that I am trying to turn into 2 columns: first date and last date when an observation was seen. I have tried agg. measure and calc item but I get type mismatch because of the date field. I figured I could change the date format (into a measure?) first and then build the other 2 custom categories. Any input on how to best perform all these steps or if my logic is wrong for the outcome I need? Thanks!

Example data set:

Process Error 1 Severity 1 First Date Observed Last date Observed

For columns, I have

1-minor error (to be used in the process error column (cat)

2-severity (cat)

3-localdate (cat)

Could you please clarify do you want to create a min and max date for certain specific groups?
