How to integrate a forecast into a report?

Hi there,

We want to use a linegraph in an exploration to create an updated forecast every month. This forecast should be displayed in a comprehensive report (dashboard). The only way updating this graph in the report (I'm aware off) is to export the graph as a report in the exploration and then importing this report in the main report. This however is not a preferable solution because we have to repeat this excercise every month. The linegraph needs quite some design modifcations to fit in the report.

Is there some other way to achieve what we want?

Hi There,

In SAS VA, the Data Exploration, FORECAST feature is available\possible using Line Chart. We can export this VISUALIZATION into REPORT (File - Export - Exploration as Report), but it is static. We can't do any modifications if we add it in one of the section in Report Designer. Even we can't publish VISUALIZATIONs to End Users or Business Users in Report Viewer. So each and everytime we need to follow the above steps until the options are available in Report Designer.

These features (Forecast feature using Line Chart, Sankey Diagram, Decision Tree, Heat Map, Box Plot) are NOT available in Report Designer. If SAS will update these features in coming versions in SAS VA 7.4 or 7.5, we can overcome these kind of issues.

I also really would like to see a better integration of forecasts etc in the designer. There is however an easier way of exporting the results of a forecast to designer: you can export the data from a forecast as an Excel file and import this file into designer. This way you have maximum flexiblity in desiging the linegraph. Pitty that we can not automate this step...

Hi Venu,

I am facing the same issue in SAS VA Version 7.4 . Forecasted Graph exported from Data Explorer into Designer became static. In which Version of SAS VA it is possible to do forecasting in SAS VA Designer. Please suggest.

Hello Mahenda,

The Designer and Explorer are a single interface in VA 8.1 and later, so forecasting is the same as any other report object there.
