Hello - I am using proc causalmed to determine if a certain labvalue mediates the relationship between group membership and death.

PROC CAUSALMED DATA = sub;

CLASS grp(descending) deathicu/descending ;

MODEL death = grp labval;

MEDIATOR labval = grp;

run;

death is coded as (0/1)

grp is coded as (0/1)

labval is continuous

These are the results. I am not sure how to interpret them - specifically the negative percentage mediated.

I am new to the causalmed procedure and appreciate any help!

Negative means that the variable weakens the relationship you are modelling.

So in this case, does it mean that the group effect on death is reduced by approximately 24% due to the mediation of labvalue?
