How do I do a Summary and Count together?

How do I achieve the same below code using Proc Summary or Proc means? Is there a way we can use the count and sum function together?

proc sql;

select distinct A, B, count(C), sum(D), sum(E)

from Table

group by A, B;

quit;

Use proc means with the relevant statistic. You can specify the sum, count is N, mean, standard deviation. You can also specify them in the output out statement to capture the values in a data set.

proc means data=sashelp.class n sum mean;
var age;
output out=want sum=total n=count mean=average;
run;

Hi @skallamp,

This should come close:

proc summary data=table nway;
class A B / missing;
var C D E;
output out=stats(drop=_:) n(C)= sum(D E)=;
proc print;
run;

Edit: ... but only if C is a numeric variable! PROC MEANS/SUMMARY doesn't compute statistics for character variables, not even the N statistic (number of non-missing values). PROC SQL's COUNT function, however, works with either variable type.
