Hi,
I have a pipe( | ) delimitted file and when i tried to import using import wizard the length of the a field is getting changed.

for eg: in my pipe delimitted file ,i have the first field as cust id(length $ 100),but after the import ,the length of the field in sas dataset is cust id (length 20).
Any idea why is this happening?

Please help.

Thanks in advance.

Suggest you review your SAS-generated log output, and then inspect the incoming number of rows that may be influencing your CHARACTER variable type length attribute.
