    <description>&lt;HTML&gt;&lt;HEAD&gt;&lt;/HEAD&gt;&lt;BODY&gt;&lt;P&gt;SAS usually puts a lot of thought into these decisions, rather than making them arbitrarily.&amp;nbsp; If your list of variables to transpose includes a character variable, then all the transposed variables will have to be character.&amp;nbsp; If you want to do this, you can always specify:&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;var _all_;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;Good luck.&lt;/P&gt;&lt;/BODY&gt;&lt;/HTML&gt;</description>
