How can i read special characters in variables and in observations

Perhaps you could be more specific.

Any character that is in the OS collating sequence can be read as part of the value of a character variable. You can't always see it, but that is a limitation of your display/print technology, not of SAS' ability to read it. (You can always print it in hex format, but that's ugly to read.)

Hi:
Variable NAMES must conform to the SAS naming conventions for variable names. Variable VALUES can contain just about any character in the collating sequence.
