Hi friends - have a question

how can i make local drive available to see for user from sas eg 4.1 on windows server? so that user can see all drives and can find their allocated path to store their code - they don't have to open drives seperately...

From EG

SASMain

-library

-file

- c:\

- f:\

Your file-list at Eguide is pointing to you defined primary location.

use of Mklink by the users can offer them other locations by using a link (like Unix)

To be defined in that priamry location. Just as a symbolic reference

Your server is "SASMain" which is the default Sever name under SAS9.1.3 for a remote server (so not "Local").

You can in SAS Management Console (SMC) define where "Files" points to. This must be a locations accessible from the SAS Application server (the workspace server). A local file system on a workstation is normally not accessible from a remote server.

From the top of my head:

You right click on the workspace server and open the properties, find there the "advanced" button and then it's in the "File Navigation" tab - rather hidden...

Only one of the three options can be set - either to point to the designated user folder 'SAS User Root', set to the root 'System Root', or define a shared location/directory 'path'.

As the user root will be mostly common when used on a server. I translated the question how to reach the other necessary locations for the user. Witht Unix a softlink is an easy wll known approach. Short-cuts en new mwith W7 -2008 ist the mklink.
