Creating a new variable from a string of other variables

Hi All,

I'm a brand new user of SAS, and this is giving me a hard time (I can't even find anything about it in search it seems).

I am trying to create a new variable in my dataset that is simply a Standard Deviation of a string of other variables.

Any guidance would be much appreciated.

Hi

I'm not a statistical person and have no idea what standard deviation is or could possibly achieve but if you create a comptuted column and look at the functions tab there are STD functions listed.

as an example

columns
A b c d e f g h
2 4 4 4 5 5 7 9

using the STD unction

STD(a,b,c,d,e,f,g,h) = 2.1380899353

Hopefully this is right and if not I'm sure I'll hear about it
