The only way any SAS code in Enterprise Guide could write files to your local hard drive would be if you connected your Enterprise Guide session to SAS running on your local machine.

Sounds like you just want to use a connection to a SAS server instead of connecting to SAS on local machine.

In my previous version of SAS EG, when I worked with a SAS file and it put it in the temp environment in SAS, it was in the server’s environment, not on my hard drive. This was helpful from a data security perspective so that the dataset was not on my hard drive. How do I get the new version of SAS EG to do that same thing?

What is a "temp environment"? I've never heard that in connection with SAS.

In a typical SAS environment upgrading the SAS Enterprise Guide should not make any change to how data is stored.
The best thing is to reach out to the SAS Administrator in your organization for assistance.
