topic Connecting to Sybase : Error in SAS Enterprise Guide

Hi There: I am hoping someone can help. We have recently been given new PCs at work, however on practically all of them the connection from SAS to Sybase fails.

The error message is "Connection Failed. Error Code: -101188867 ct_connect(): directory service layer: internal directory control layer error: Requested server name not found".

Only on one machine have we been able to successfully connect, we have done the exact same process on the remaining machines and have not had any success.

Has anybody else seen anything like this before?

Thanks so much in advance,
It looks like you are unsuccessed to config your client Sybase .
Or you can try to use ODBC.

Hi. Thanks so much for the reply. That's the odd thing though, we can connect to Sybase using Microsoft Access via ODBC. It is only through SAS that we are seeing this error.

Hi.
Are you using Sybase IQ or Sybase A...... ,if it is latter, it seems that needing to add something into xxxx.ini file (Sorry, I have forgotten).
Or Google it may will be helpful.

That did it! We have Sybase ASE and it's the SQL.ini file that wasn't pointing to the right server. Thank you so much for the help.
