Exporting data from Enterprise Guide to Excel gives exceeding 256 column error.

Hi,

We are currently running SAS Enterprise Guide x32 V 5.100.0.12019 and the Office add-in x32 of the same version number. These are sequenced and deployed with App-V 5.

We are upgrading from office 2013 to office 2016 in our previous 2013 environment everything works fine (no errors).

In our 2016 Environment if a large amount of data is exported to Excel via SAS Enterprise Guide you get the following error:

I have re-sequenced SAS in our 2016 environment and still get the same issue.

Is our SAS version too old to work with office 2016?

Any ideas of a work around for this issue?

Any help will be hugely appreciated.

Looks to me like the quite old (current version is 7.13) EG does not recognize the newer Office 2016, and assumes the old limitations.

You might want to post the generated code (or code used).

The 256/ 65535 limit looks like you are attempting to write to version of Excel from 20 years ago and not a current XLSX file.

I will say any Excel file with 1800+ columns is a problematic thing to begin with.

Can you export to csv rather than Excel?
