topic Can't assign vertical task role in line plot wizard in SAS Enterprise Guide

I used the import file wizard to import a text file and it was successfully shown as output data. While I was trying to plot my data using the line plot wizard, it did allow me to assign the vertical variable. I could assign the horizaontal one using the drop-down list, but couldn't click the down arrow for vertical.

I also tried to make a line plot not using the wizard, same thing. In Data>Task roles, it just didn't allow me to add for the vertical variable.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

The desired type of plot and the data type may be incompatible.

If you attempted to show some example data it did not come through.

A series plot, the basic x y connected will want the Y to be numeric. If for some reason your variable is actually character then it wizard wouldn't like that.

Thanks ballardow! You are totally right. Just realized my variable is character.
