      <description>&lt;HTML&gt;&lt;HEAD&gt;&lt;/HEAD&gt;&lt;BODY&gt;&lt;P&gt;Besides a re-installation maybe there are a couple of options to consider:&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;what this error msg says is that one of your COM components required by Enterprise Guide are not registered in Windows, so you cannot connect to your metadata/workspace server(local or remote). Then:&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;you can try to register them running EGuide.exe /register... If you have admin rights on your computer. Probably you will need an admin Or support guy (If you are not &lt;img id="smileywink" class="emoticon emoticon-smileywink" src="https://communities.sas.com/i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.png" alt="Smiley Wink" title="Smiley Wink" /&gt; )&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;&lt;/P&gt;&lt;P&gt;this is maybe a virtualised installation of EGuide. Virtualised installations require to follow some specific recipes (standard requirement for many virtualization client software). There are also a couple of SAS SAS papers providing the recipe for your specific SAS version. &lt;/P&gt;&lt;/BODY&gt;&lt;/HTML&gt;</description>
