This error can mea
n a lot of things when you look at what library failed exactly, in the details below. I have seen these often in my 25+ years.

I would check if the license is expired and if all system requirements are properly in place. If all is correct, indeed, SAS Tech Support will be your best guidance.

Good luck!

I have a serious issue with SAS suddenly shutting down (following jumbled letters and the following error message:

NOTE: Unable to initialize the options subsystem.
ERROR: (SASXKINI): PHASE 3 KERNEL INITIALIZATION FAILED.
ERROR: Unable to initialize the SAS kernel.

During my +40 years as a SAS user I have never experienced anything similar (with extensive time spent in Sweden and Australia).

I am at University of Gothenburg, Sweden, and have re-downloaded SAS and their site-specific deployment plan. Using the Deployment Wizard, browsing the patch to the plan, making sure the path does not contain any symbols that are not allowed, and being the administrator of my account/PC I still get an error message that the path to the plan is invalid. This is incredibly frustrating, especially since I am under extreme pressure at the moment, being in the process of organising a collaborative research application with the US and Australia. Can someone please advise?? Many thanks and kind regards, Mats Olsson, Professor of Evolutionary Biology

I think you would get a faster and more authoritative answer by contacting SAS technical support. You can find international phone numbers at the link.
