Thanks Gregg, another question. Is the Free Memory metric we see here is also the available memory in server?
Cause like if we execute the free command there is a column of free and available. just wanted to confirm if it is available memory.

Regards

Hi,

I notice in this SAS environment that Used Memory metric is missing. Is there a way for this metric to appear? Thanks!

Please find below:

If you click "show all metrics" it will show those without data like Used memory. You need to set a collection interval for the metric for it to be captured. You can do this under Manage -> Monitoring Defaults and then select "Edit Metric Template" for the object type you are trying to add the metric (in this case the platform, i.e. Linux). Check the box next to "Used Memory" and then at the bottom set a collection interval (e.g. 5 min).

The memory metrics available in Environment Manager are:

Free Memory
Free Memory (+buffers/cache)
Percent Free Memory
Percent Used Memory
Used Memory
Used Memory (-buffers/cache)

The Environment Manager agent pulls this from /proc/meminfo.

The "free" command's "available" column is an estimation that command performs. Free Memory would match what is in the free column rather than the available column. More information on the output of the free command can be found here:

https://man7.org/linux/man-pages/man1/free.1.html
