Hello
I have a use case where users connect to the server using SAS EG and SAS studio is not used. I don't see any stored processes running. A simple use case scenario. basic reporting , statistical analysis and forecasting.
SAS management console is used for administration.
Wondering if we can have a SAS BI Server without mid tier.

Hi. Yes, it is possible to deploy SAS BI Server without deploying the middle-tier. The metadata and compute tiers do not require the middle-tier. You might want to discuss your use cases and business requirements with your SAS account team to learn what products meet your needs.

It is also possible to launch SAS programs directly from a NodeJS server, bypassing the metadata / object spawner completely.

We're working on an open-source tool for this, we call it sasjs/server - https://github.com/sasjs/server

Just download (from the releases page), double click, provide the path to your SAS executable - and you're off! It provides a full REST API for talking directly to SAS. This will work on any SAS server (that has a SAS executable).
