SAS/CONNECT is not required for an EG to remote SAS server connection. You do need SAS Integration Technologies though which comes bundled with EG normally.

we have installed both pc sas and windows server sas. we don't have sas/connect license. i wonder if means that we cannot use the eg in the pc to invoke the remote sas to run the program, right?

If your "server SAS" has a metadata server and object spawner running, you should be able to connect EG to it.

The server needs to have Integration Technologies and Workspace Server for Enterprise Access (PRODNUM075 and PRODNUM539 in the current setinit). These are part of the BI Server package.

Bottom line: inspect your server for the installed and licensed products (run proc setinit and proc product_status there), and see if you have the necessary infrastructure (metadata, spawner) running. And get in touch with your SAS account manager.

Integration Technologies is included in your EG licence as it won't work with a remote SAS server without it.
