Hi my colleague Mark and I would like to let you all know about a SAS Talks presentation we will be providing this Thursday. Details follow. Cheers!

Planned Installation? No Problem!

Wondering how installing your new SAS® Business Intelligence software will fit into your already busy schedule? In this session, we’ll break down the deployment process for SAS 9.3, direct you to critical documentation and help you understand the steps necessary to meet (or even beat) your installation goals.

A link for the registration:

http://www.sas.com/apps/sim/redirect.jsp?detail=SIM81395_1760

And lastly, the link to the landing page for the webinar:

http://www.sas.com/reg/web/corp/1688293

Good presentation yesterday! However, that WebEx applicaiton isn't very helpful. If there was a way to take notes, I didn't find it. Could someone form SAS summarize the basics here, perhaps with actual links to all the material? I remember seeing something like a PowerPoint slide with what might have been a link to some document.

Also, since it seems to only take about 30 seconds to deploy a BI environment on Windows, should I ask our IT department to get rid of our UNIX server? Insert sarcastiic emoticon here!

This was a concern for us too.

We arranged to have a SAS consultant come on site to install and configure SAS V9.2 Base and BI Platform. I believe he even did a practise run at his local SAS HQ before coming onsite. I then sat with the consultant to watch the install process, and all steps were screen-captured into a Word document.

This approach is recommended, especially for dealing with the orders, SAS Depot, metadata, deploying any web applications, and testing the install.
