SAS connect fails to connect to SAS Viya

I am researching DTS. I can use DTS via SAS/CONNECT from a Viya SAS Studio session to 9.4. And that is a “pull” technique.

Now I would like to test a “push” technique from 9.4 to Viya but looks like it’s an issue with the authentication:

NOTE: Remote signon to REMOTE1 commencing (SAS Release 9.04.01M6P110718).

ERROR: A communication subsystem partner link setup request failure has occurred.

ERROR: Cannot negotiate encryption algorithm.

ERROR: Remote signon to REMOTE1 canceled.
I can go from Viya to 9.4, but getting this error going from 9.4 back to Viya.

By default, the CONNECT spawner in Viya has SSL/TLS enabled.

You need to

Enable the SAS/CONNECT client in 9.4 to use TLS encryption
Get the Viya root certificate added to the client's certificate store.

You may want to look in the Encryption in SAS Viya 3.4 (here) or refer to this other post (here) to see what you need to do.

You still need the Viya root certificate for the SSL handshake to work properly. You will get farther, but SAS will complain that the certificate is not valid.
