How to enable users to update SAS EG 7.12 from behind firewalls and McAfee

I am looking for the technical information I need to give to IT so that our SAS users can automatically update SAS EG.

Our users are admins on their local machines but we have firewalls and run the McAfee protection suite.

To get update we used a network that is not behind the firewalls and ran McAfee exceptions to enable the SAS EG auto update functionality to actually work on a single machine. We had to do 2 updates so took a little while. Ideally our Techs do not want to do each machine separately.

Does anyone know

1) what the McAfee setting changes are needed for the updater to actually work?

2) what URLS I need to get white listed to get through the firewalls rules?

I think if you can whitelist ftp.sas.com, then you'll be good.

Also, all hotfixes are also available as manual downloads. See all EG hotfix announcements here, with download links.

That will get us through the firewalls.
When we used the network without firewalls it still would not install until we got McAfee to stop working.

McAfee Technical Support might be able to help you determine what specifically inside McAfee is preventing the software installation.

Hopefully they can give you advise on how to adjust their software's configuration to permit whatever they are stopping.
