topic SAS deployment manager configure autoload directory, on page starting with enter Server name? in Administration and Deployment

All,

In the SAS deployment manager, configure AutoLoad directory option, on the form/page starting with "Server name" entry box, why does it not let you pick an existing LASR server? Like in a drop down or something? I don't want a new one, I just want to create a separate "folder+library with its own auto load" -- so I can grant a distinct group of users their own private data sets and have them always auto load on boot of the server, or when my task scheduler goes and finds a replacement data set.

Am I missing a rule, restriction, separate path to do this?

...in my case I am a SAS VA 7.3 on windows,

single config directory,

give it my connection info,

non-distributed,

then bam it asks me for the server name but I don't want a new one and it is not giving me an option to pick the current server.

when I give it a new test name I get a new LASR on my Administration web tile on the server tabs. I don't want this! Do I have to do it this way or what are my options ????

I hope this is clear. TIA --Keith

Re: SAS deployment manager configure autoload directory, on page starting with enter Server name?

Hello @kjohnsonm , Keith,

that is actually a very good question. Let me explain.

For SAS VA 7.3, the Administration Guide still proposes to create the new Autoload folders with manual steps, not the SAS Deployment Manager. See the second link below.

Still, you can use the SDM for Autoload, however you might need to have a few considerations. Please refer to my first link, below.

First of all, you will need to create the folder and a library for the original data. In SDM, you can say: use a pre-existing library (not the non-distributed version.... this is indeed to create a new LASR.... which is a good idea! Then you can control the memory usage on this new LASR).

https://blogs.sas.com/content/sgf/2016/04/04/sas-visual-analytics-autoload-configuration-made-easy/

http://support.sas.com/documentation/onlinedoc/va/7.3/en/vaag.pdf (Autoload - How to add a new implementation)

Does it help?

Kind regards,

Juan
