Cheers to another meeting in the books! We hope everyone enjoyed the presentations...and the beer. 🍻 There's nothing quite like meeting other SAS Edmonton Users over a pint of beer, in my humble opinion. 😉

In case you need a refresher, here was the agenda for the afternoon.

12:30pm - 1:00pm

Registration and Appetizers

1:00pm - 1:05pm

Welcome Remarks
Doug Dover, ESUG President

1:05pm - 1:20pm

What's New at SAS?
Alice Yuan, SAS Canada

1:20pm - 1:55pm

Diving Deeper Into SQL
John Fleming, Alberta Health Services

Often with SQL, we get some basic stuff like joins. But is there more we can do with SQL? Today, we are going to take a deeper look.

1:55pm - 2:15pm

Tips & Tricks
Doug Dover & Emily Blagdon, University of Alberta

2:15pm - 2:45pm

Networking Break & Refreshments

2:45pm - 3:20pm

SAS Automation for Pragmatic Randomized Trials
Erik Youngson, Alberta Health Services

The BedMed Frail study is currently enrolling patients to evaluate whether time of day blood pressure medications are taken in continuing care facilities impacts patient outcomes.

This talk will highlight several ways that SAS is utilized within Alberta Health Services to conduct the study including the following:

Identifying eligible residents

Connecting directly to a REDCap database

Storing data in Oracle

Randomization

Securely emailing randomization lists

Emailing summary results

3:20pm - 3:50pm

Case Use for SAS Visual Investigator – Combating Guns and Gangs in Alberta with the Correctional Services Intelligence Unit
Chris Gibson, Alberta Justice

Exploring the use of SAS Visual Investigator and analytics in the public safety sector including correctional settings and more. On a daily basis members of the Intelligence unit are conducting investigations to protect the people of Alberta and suppress crime. With the assistance of SAS technology we are seeing drastic increases in officer efficiencies and less intelligence gaps tracking both gang and firearm crimes across the province.

3:50pm - 4:20pm

SAS Graphing Tips & Tricks
Allison Scott, Alberta Health Services

4:20pm - 4:30pm

Closing Remarks

4:30pm - 5:30pm

Optional: Happy Hour Networking

PDF versions of the presentations can also be found in this post.
