SAS Risk and Finance Workbench | Roles

Hi Folks,

We defined a custom role on SAS MC. For this role, under "Capabilities" we checked "Read", "Create Projects" and "Execute" from "Risk Financ Wkbnch Mid-Tier".

After that, we created a process definition and we used our custom role under "Role". But when we login on Risk and Finance Workbench, our user does not have the "create projetct" option available.

Any idea why?

Suggest verifying that the role is being recognized as expected: Using SMC, give your new role "Administrator" capability, then verify that any user in that role has administrator permissions (able to create anything)

If not, then perhaps we need an intermediate Group object:
Typically, [Users] are members of [Groups] which are in [Roles] which have [Capabilities]
Other variations are certainly possible (and should work), but this is the most well-worn trail.

Hi @MariaD,

You will have to add your custom role to Risk and Finance Workbench database users group, or add some permissions based on the capabilities this group has. I believe you aren't seeing the option to create projects is due to the fact that there is no database access provided to the custom role.

Or the user that is being granted access to the RFW should be part of the new role, you have created as well user should also be a member called RFW: Data base users, which allows the user to r/w in to RFW data base, also please note that RFW application does not automatically pick up changes on the metadata security, some thing called as user entitlements should be refreshed for the user, after any changes made in the metadata, for those changes to take immediate effect. If not there is sync cycle you can look up SMC for RFW application.
