teradata connection- truncation note in log

Hi,

I am connecting to Teradata. I am getting a NOTE in log for few datetime columns.

NOTE: The data value for column DATE_W (DATE_W) was truncated or was out of range 390 times when retrieving
that data from the DBMS.

what is the NOTE saying?...I am trying to understand what causing truncation.

Know your data. Is it possible that there are "dummy" values that would correspond to something like year 9999? Or possibly years before 1581? If so the conversion routine might be having issues. The note says : truncated or was out of range 390 times. I would tend to suspect range issues not truncation at first glance.

If the data were out of range the result in your SAS data would be a missing value. See if you have any. If so find identifying information and look up those records in the Teradata source and examine the datetime field there.
