Is it possible to read an Excel file using proc import when the file is open? If yes, how?

Unfortunately I don't think this is possible. Excel files are not designed for multi-user access - the first user opening it will lock the file. If you want to avoid errors of this type then set the permissions on these files to read-only.

I am asking because sometimes I need to edit an Excel and read it repeatedly. So I need to open and close it again and again. Thanks for you reply anyway.
