Hello all,

I've a file that ends .tab and I would like to import to sas data set. The file contains 5 colums and the last column contents are too wide. Your help is appreciated!

I'm thinking to use

proc import but I've not used .tab data for SAS interactive

How do you know the last column is "too wide"? Is it longer than 32767 characters?

If this is going to be a recurring activity I would suggest going through the data import wizard (File>Import Data). You should see "Tab delimited file" as an option. Go through the whole process. The log will contain datastep code that you can copy into the editor and modify to customize how the data fields are defined for use in the future.

I think that column is less than 32767 characters. Not sure if I've data wizard tool in my machine. I'm using excel 2010
