I am a Mac user. I understand that there are a few free programs such as Xming, puTTy and WS_FTP for PC users to be able to access the mainframe (unix) to use SAS; however, does anyone know what the equivalent Mac programs there are to be able to use mainframe SAS?

Thank you for your help in advance,

Rose

I can only look these up one at a time (of course you could Google them as well):

found the following regarding xming:

OS X has an X11 server included as part of the distribution, but it's an

optional install. Look for the application "X11"; if you don't have it,

get out your installation disks.

re: Putty:

osx comes with ssh support, just open terminal, type SSH username@your remote address, and you are connected

re: wsftp: http://filezilla-project.org/

The X11 was available from the Apple website at one point as well, but definitely on your install disks.

And yes Terminal will connect you, default installed unter utilities last time I checked.

It has been several years since I used sas on mainframe, and many more since I did so through a mac os, but I remember using the following terminal emulator when I connected to the IBM 3270 mainframe we were using at the time. It looks like it has been maintained through current versions os mac os too.

http://www.brown.edu/cis/tn3270/

From windows I used to be fond of Reflections, but i do not this they make a version for mac. One other that comes to mind is called ZOC, like Reflections though, is not a free software.
