For any code that generates an error (or warning or note you ask a question about) you should copy the text of the data step or procedure code along with all of the notes, warnings and errors then paste the text into a text box opened on the forum with the </> icon. The text box is important because often the log includes diagnostic characters or information and the message windows on this forum will reformat pasted text making those diagnostics less useful.

IF the code you are attempting involves a Do loop it is possible that you structured it incorrectly (NO code shown so who can tell), and is not stopping. Which could mean the data step keeps writing records until you run out of space.

I am trying to create a small data set, "tickets", from the book by Sandra Scholtzhauer (page 28). SAS on Demand runs for a long time but fails to create this data set with this error message:

ERROR: Insufficient space in file WORK.TICKETS.DATA.
ERROR: File WORK.TICKETS.DATA is damaged. I/O processing did not complete.
NOTE: The SAS System stopped processing this step because of errors.

How can I overcome this problem?

My name: Arthur Asghar
