You have to provide sample data that's reflective of your data.

If this turns out to be a fuzzy match it's more difficult because of computational requirements, if you have 5 names you have to check against 5 names that becomes 25 comparisons. Now if that's 10,000 vs 5000 it becomes 50,000,000 comparisons which is significantly higher.

I have list of names (full names) in excel file which I am loading into SAS dataset. Now I have to query to retrieve detail from database which has First Name and Last Name as fields. I like to filter records based on list of full names from excel file. Note full name has middle name and so have to use like or find string to do the match

What will be best way to do this? Thanks for you help; I am just beginning to learn SAS
