&lt;P&gt;Data &lt;STRONG&gt;resid&lt;/STRONG&gt;:&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;individual year city province&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;with one row per individual and year.&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;Your other dataset would be&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;Data &lt;STRONG&gt;income&lt;/STRONG&gt;:&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;province year income&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;Then you could get your summary statistics by combining the two datasets like this:&lt;/P&gt;
