PROC COPY efficiency

Hi,

Task: I want to copy all SAS datasets/files/catelog from one library/view to another library.
Solution:
PROC COPY IN=OLD OUT=NEW;
RUN;

The performance is extremely slow if source is XML view. CPU usage is almost 100% and took > 30 min to copy 7M files. I had to stop it, and used DATA STEP instead.

Question: why? how to solve it or not use PROC COPY in XML view at all?

Thanks in advance!
