More Traffic Lighting

Hello,

I'm using proc tabulate to create a transition matrix. We are tracking customer movement amoung product categories (ie. the number of customers that stayed in the same category and moved to the others). We have previous data on the rows and current data on the columns.

I need to be able to highlight the cell where the row/column intersect (so the cell that contains the number of accounts that stayed in the same category).

Using the proc format approach allows you to control colours based on ranges of values. That doesn't help me in this case unfortunately.

Any ideas?

Unfortunately there is no way to do what you're asking with TABULATE.

It would be interesting to see a snippet of your TABULATE output, if possible. Maybe we can come up with a solution in a future version of SAS.

A hint: You can enclose Listing output in "pre" and "/pre" to retain formatting when displayed in the forum. The directives must be in square brackets. (Does anyone know how to escape the brackets?)

Another thing to consider is whether this is the kind of report that could be done with PROC REPORT and CALL DEFINE statements. You can perform traffic lighting based on the value of some other cell with PROC REPORT.

Again, Tech Support could help you figure that out.

Thanks for your response.

I've worked with Proc Report quite extensively and I don't think I'd be able to create the same type of output although the compute blocks would easily handle the traffic lighting.

I've emailed a sample of the the transition matrix (using dummy data) to David - hopefully this sort of fucntionality may be available down the road.
