What you are asking is not unique to SAS and is more about incoming/outgoing EMAIL server/client interfaces, as well as being EMAIL content dependent.

Also the idea of monitoring someone else's INBOX habits/behavior is not likely. If/when someone does open an EMAIL, it may be possible to intelligently communicate back to some web-site or web-service but again not likely.
Such functionality is specific to the email software you use. For example when you MANUALLY send a Microsoft Outlook email you can set the message options to request a delivery and/or read receipt.

As far as I am aware you cannot set these options from within the SAS email interface, but you can configure Outlook to request delivery and/or read receipts for ALL email sent. This means when you send email via SAS through this Outlook mailbox you would automatically get delivery/read receipts.

The bottom line is check the features of your email client.

The last reply makes the presumption that the recipient's EMAIL client will even cooperate to send a reply-receipt at all.
