Hi,

I've been trying to connect to teradata within a proc sql but the sentence I've found is like this one:

proc sql;
connect to teradata (user=user pass=password database=database)
<SQL query="">;
quit;

But in this way the user and the password can be viewed for anyone so is there another way to do that without showing the user and password?

Thanks for your help!
Hi:
There is a PROC PWENCODE that I believe works with some of the SAS/Access products to encrypt a password, but I do not know many of the details. This 9.2 documentation (http://support.sas.com/documentation/cdl/en/acreldb/59618/HTML/default/a001384369.htm) says that:
"PASSWORD=<'>Teradata-password<'>
is a required connection option that specifies a Teradata password. The password that you specify must be correct for your USER= value. If you do not want to enter your Teradata password in clear text on this statement, see PROC PWENCODE in Base SAS Procedures Guide for a method to encode it."

You could check the 9.1.3 documentation for Teradata access to see whether there is a reference to PWENCODE.

This is not an ODS or BASE Reporting procedure (PRINT, REPORT, TABULATE) question. The best place to go for help on this question is Tech Support. To send a question to Tech Support, go to http://support.sas.com/ and in the left-hand navigation pane, click on the link entitled "Submit a Problem".
