We're running Base SAS 9.4 for z/OS, but recently dropped SAS/Graph.

I now have to produce an HTML-based dashboard; typical dashboard graphical elements would be nice for management.

I see that 9.4 TS1M5 has some new ODS graphics enhancements; is SAS/Graph still a co-requisite for ODS graphics output, or does Base SAS now have some ability to do so?

Thank You.

The SGgraphics do not require SAS/Graph any longer. They are part of "base" SAS functionality.

Procs SGPLOT will do everything and more than the older SAS/Graph procedures Gplot and Gchart. Also Proc Template + SGrender can do some pretty amazing things. Investigate http://support.sas.com/sassamples/graphgallery/index.html for some examples of the procedures.

What specifically are you looking for?

We've been tasked with producing a monthly dashboard of mainframe statistics for management (number of jobs, steps, CICS transactions, file transfers, CPU utilization, DB2 data base accesses, I/Os, tape mounts, et al). Many ideas for speedometers, histograms, pie charts, etc. have already been tossed around, with suggestions for forwarding to Excel for massaging and on to an external web server for presentation.

However, ALL of the data for the dashboard originates in z/OS SMF records. We've already got Merrill's MXG and many in-house SAS/SMF programs with ready access to all of the requested information. With data reduction and graphics output provided by SAS, we can serve the webpages from our z/OS system's web-server; no need to go external for anything.

Thank You! We'll check out the examples you mentioned.

We needed a quick answer on SAS/Graph in case we needed to get the cashflow moving, so we appreciate the quick response.

Another place to look https://blogs.sas.com/content/graphicallyspeaking/2012/02/20/dashboard-graphs/

Shows an approach through the SAS Graphics Template Language though more features have been added since this was posted. You can wander through the "graphicallyspeaking" section of the content for quite awhile.
