In my experience, if all queries in EG are slow the problem is most likely network slowness - that is assuming you are connecting to a remote SAS server and not local SAS on your PC (please confirm). Are you working in an office over a company intranet for example, or are you working at home using VPN and Wifi for your network connection? Typically connections from home tend to be signifcantly slower. The symptoms you are seeing could easily be caused by a dodgy Wifi connection for example.

Hello everyone,

I’m currently working with SAS Enterprise Guide and have encountered an issue that I’m struggling to resolve. I would really appreciate any guidance from the community.

Here’s a brief overview of the problem:
Whenever I try to run a query in SAS Enterprise Guide, the execution takes an unusually long time, and sometimes it completely freezes. I've checked my dataset size, optimized my query, and even restarted SAS EG, but the issue persists. There are no error messages—just an indefinite loading state.

Has anyone faced a similar issue or have any suggestions on how to troubleshoot this? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!
Router Login

We need more information:

Version of EG and SAS

Is SAS installed on a server?

We need to see the code

Also is the data used in SAS data sets or external database(s). If external data then connection information should be included.

If you have any LOG generated by the code with messages include that by copy and paste text into a text box opened on the forum with the </> icon above the message window. The text box is important because the main message windows on this forum will reformat pasted text and have been know to lose critical details if white space characters are involved and may insert other HTML meaning the pasted text might not be exactly what your system used or generated.
