Sending emails in SAS: Email address has a # in it

Hi There,

I have an email address that has a # in it for example "#apples@company.org"

my script looks like the below. I keep getting fail delivery emails when it goes out to that email with a hashtag. It seems to work for the other emails without hashtags.
