How does "SPLIT=options" work?

For example:

proc print data=orion.sales split='*';
var Employee_ID Job_Title Salary;
label Employee_ID='Sales ID'
Job_Title='Job Title'
Salary='Annual*Salary';
format Salary dollar10.0;
run;

What will the output look like?

SPLIT identifies a special character (here it is *) that is use to break a column Label and display it on several rows:

E.g. Annual*Salary will appear in the report as

Annual

Salary
