Can proc expand be used in University Edition? I tried to use proc expand to find a 12 month rolling average and I was given a “cannot find” error for the proc expand statement.

No, PROC EXPAND is part of SAS/ETS. Only certain procedures are available in SAS UE.

You can use a temporary array approach within a data step:

http://support.sas.com/kb/41/380.html

From my personal reference library:

https://gist.github.com/statgeek/27e23c015eae7953eff2

Macro approach

https://gist.github.com/statgeek/e5e43ff45a4ba1f64d0873ff3bc35974
