Likely because it's already in groups and there isn't enough variability between the values 0/1 to create separate groups. This task is designed to deal with continuous variables to group them. How would you like to group a variable that has 0/1? The only thing that makes sense is to combine them, because it's already grouped.

Why does this variable not get split into mulitple groups?

If you manually put 0/1 into seperate groups the IV is greater than 0.1, which means the variable would have been accepted. Also the population of each group would be greater than the minimum 5%. So I can't see any reason why two groups wouldn't be greated.

0/1 is already two groups, why use the grouping node in the first place?
