I'm wondering if querying the Peoplesoft metadata tables might be helpful. in the same way you can query Oracle schema tables/views.

Hello folks, new to the community!! Have two questions, and easy one and a more complicated one.

So, I have been looking around for documentation regarding SAS/Peoplesoft integrations and found some old documents online https://support.sas.com/documentation/onlinedoc/v82/whatsnew/z1863169.htm and https://support.sas.com/documentation/onlinedoc/91pdf/sasdoc_91/access_peopsoft_6967.pdf

But do not seem to be able to find anything for SAS 9.4. Is Peoplesoft no longer supported in this manner?

Second (much more complicated) question, those that have integrated with Peoplesoft before, how have you applied Peoplesoft security in your SAS environment? Or better yet, have you been able to at all?

I think you are right. Peoplesoft is not in the 9.4 list of SAS/ACCESS products:

http://support.sas.com/software/products/access/index.html

It is possible that a generic solution may work though like SAS/ACCESS to ODBC.

Thanks for the reply. We are currently getting the Peoplesoft data from its source(Oracle) but were wondering if there were any perks to using an actual SAS tool to get more metadata out of peoplesoft.

I think we're talking about application level meta data, not the physical data dictionary.
Probably there are benefits of using it. But since SAS doesn't support that logic (one can wonder why) any more, I think that is not an feasible way. My guess is that you need in depth knowledge of that meta model to be able to benefit from it.

Thanks for the information guys.

We are just brainstorming ways to apply data security in a way that allows us to match Peoplesoft security more closely. Figured it'd be worth a try seeing if there was a tool out there that helped with this.
