Hi all,

I know that it is possible to generate an email through the "Publish to Email" Transformation in SAS DIS. However, we can only use it if our source is a data set, right?

Is there any other way to generate an email using SAS DIS transformations (excluding the User written code where I could use the FILENAME EMAIL statement for example)?

Thanks,

May15

Hi LinusH,

For example, I'd like to send an email that contains a message that is previously saved in a .txt file. I know how to do that using the FILENAME EMAIL statement in User Written Code as I said above. I just wanted to know if there is a specific transformation (not including User Written Code) through which we can do something like that. It is just to get more envolved with the transformations provided by DIS and not only with User Written Code. I think the "Publish to email" transformation only works if the source is a data set.

Hope it helps.

Thanks,

May15

This is still the how, not the why.
Remember, DI Studio is for generating code for data flow - ETL. Usually sensing emails is not part if that flow, rather as an utility to send notice to administrators, data stewards and power users. And that can be handled in post processing of transformations or jobs.
