Hi Cynthia,
I did book the exam through at a local Pearson Vue center here in Toronto.
I visited the center and they explained to me that students are given a
locker to store wallets etc.

It looks like a good strategy in the exam would be to aim for 1.5 min per
question. During the first 60 mins, it seems a if I should try to complete
40 questions ( or at least 35 ). Between 60 and 100 mins , I should
complete the remaining 20 ( or 25 ) questions ( assuming a total of 60
questions). This would leave me with about 10 extra minutes for review.

I know that timing strategy would depend on the individual student, but
does this like a reasonable allocation of time ?

Thanks.
Odesh.

Hello,

I am taking the Big Data module 1 exam later this week. Can someone please confirm the number of questions in the exam and the amount of time allowed ?

What information would I need to have for the exam ? Would I need to login to the exam with my Candidate Id and a password ?

Thanks.

Odesh.

Hi,

You probably booked your exam at Pearson VUE -- you will need to follow THEIR procedures for taking the exam. Did you book an exam at one of their testing centers or an online exam at home? That makes a difference. I don't understand ALL of the procedures you follow for the online exam. When I went to the testing center for my exam, I had to lock my purse and phone in a locker and show them my id so they could verify my identity.

As for the number of questions, please review the web site for the Big Data 1 exam here: https://www.sas.com/en_us/certification/credentials/data-management/big-data-professional/big-data-preparation-exam.html and on that web site, you will see that there can be anywhere from 55-60 questions and 110 minutes, as shown below:

for more information about Pearson procedures when you check in, please contact PearsonVUE for more information based on the type of exam you've booked.

Hope this helps,

Cynthia

Hi:
All you can know is whether YOU are comfortable with that approach. When I take any exam, my approach is to scan quickly to see if there are any obvious ones that stick out as being either REALLY easy or REALLY hard. After my first scan, I go through and do the ones I thought were easy. I might spend less than your estimate "per question" on these questions. Then, when I am done with the "easy" ones, I start back and tackle the ones that are left. Whatever time is left at the end I use for review.

But that is my approach. It may not work for you. You are correct that every student will have their own method of approaching an exam and if your method works for you, then that's the one you should use.
Cynthia
