How do I direct message and turn on private messages?

Click your name in top right corner, My Settings>Preferences>Social.

Thanks for following up on this Reeza.

I do not have a Social subcategory under Preferences. Under Preferences there is only Display, General, Linear Layout, Home Page, Privacy, Likes, and Moderator. There is My Settings>Social, but under that there is only the checked option to View Twitter streams.

Please advise. thanks!

Private Messenger is under Preferences for me. It's possible it got turned off for new users due to spam.

Ok, so I looked thru everything under My Settings and I have no Private Messenger option listed anywhere. I changed my Privacy setting so you should be able to see my email. Could you send the code there? Thanks

I enabled Private Messenger for you. @Reeza is correct: we've had some abuses recently so PMs are disabled for brand new users, but the capability is enabled after a short time in the system.
