Which exams to choose for Base Programming Specialist?

I would like to register for an exam for the Base Programming Specialist. When I open the schedule-exam, I saw many exams available and was confused which one(s) should I choose for this specialist. It seems there are two related: SAS 9.4 Programming Fundamentals A00-215 and SAS 9.4 Programming - Performance Based Exam A00-231. Are these two the only exams that I should take for he Base Programming Specialist certificate? Should I take both of them sequentially? Is there a list of exams required for the Base Programming Specialist certificate? Thank you very much in advance.

Hi:

The SAS Fundamentals exam does not have a hands-on component. The Exam with the hands-on component is the A00-231 Base Programmer Specialist exam. You only need to take and pass the A00-231 exam to earn the credential. Some candidates may take the Fundamentals exam first, however, it is NOT a requirement. The class preparation for both exams is the same: Programming 1 and Programming 2 classes. The main differences are what credential you earn and whether there is a hands-on component.

If you want to earn the Base Programmer Specialist certification, then the only exam you need to take is the A00-231 exam with the hands-on programming component.

Thanks for your reply! That's very helpful. Regarding the preparation for Programming 1 and 2 classes, I'm interested in knowing if SAS Academy offers any prep classes. Could you please provide more information on this?

Programming 1 and Programming 2 ARE the 2 classes that will prepare you for this exam. I'm not sure I understand whether you are asking whether there a prep classes for Programming 1 and Programming 2 or whether there is other additional preparation for the Base Specialist exam.

You will want to download the exam content guide from the above site and review the additional resources that they outline.

We also offer a Certification review class that is intended for someone who has already taken Programming 1 and Programming 2 and wants to have some extra study before they attempt the exam.
