topic convert an existing 9.4 SMP architecture into MPP in Architecture

Hi,

Would like to check if its possible to convert an existing SMP architecture into MPP without a reconfiguration?

SAS 9/4 Products:

-IFRS9
-RGF / MIP / VAAR

Current Setup: SMP

Metadata
Compute
Midtier

Intended New Setup: MPP
Metadata
Compute
Compute2
Compute3
Midtier

Is this possible without a re-install/re-configure of the environment?

Please advice

Thanks

In a grid configuration on Linux the compute SASHome and SASConfig are shared so the install/config is only performed once on the initially configured compute host, so you would not need to reinstall/reconfigure to add grid nodes.

Here is the relevant documentation:

Deploying Load Balanced Computational Servers on Multiple Machines

hello @gwootton

Does the same approach apply to LASR being converted to MPP?

Seems the document only covers the compute servers, workspace, Stored Process, Pooled Workspace

No, documentation on moving to distributed LASR can be found here:

Convert a Non-distributed SAS LASR Analytic Server to Distributed Mode
https://go.documentation.sas.com/doc/en/bicdc/9.4/vaicg/n07003sasvanalytics00install.htm
